Programmers: how to replace the display on the iPhone

When it comes to replacing the display on the iPhone, the situation can be very easily complicated. There are known cases where the manufacturer has deactivated the device via a software update, simply because an OEM display has been installed on the device.

However, as we have long known, when it comes to replacing of the display on the iPhone, the original may not be the best choice. This is one of the reasons why many users very sensibly choose an alternative from third-party manufacturers. These often offer the same imaging capabilities, but at a much better price.

However, there is a fairly common problem that those with poorer equipment – or less experienced technicians may encounter - the loss of some features at the forefront of True Tone. True tone is a function that takes care of the optimal setting of the display (depending on the ambient light) and makes the image more contrasting and vivid overall. However, replacing the display with a nongenuine part may lose this function. This is especially true on devices with iOS 12 and later, and True Tone is available from iPhone 8. However, in addition to the loss of True Tone, the user may also experience other problems, such as the proximity sensor, automatic brightness adjustment, etc.

The solution to these problems is to buy a programmer. It will take care of data transfer from the old display, thanks to which the mobile phone will not register the exchange and thus the abovementioned functions will not be lost.

You will find two different programmers on our e-shop. The first is the JC-V1, supporting devices from the iPhone 7, through the iPhone XR to the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Its advantages include wide device support, a slightly lower price or high performance. On the other hand, to use it, you need to install a special application on your computer, which can sometimes be a problem.

The second programmer from our offer is TOOLPLUS QIANLI ICOPY PLUS 2.1 3in1. Although it offers slightly less device support (since iPhone 8), on the other hand, you do not need any external application to use it. The slightly higher price is justified by the presence of other functions, which include testing and modification of battery data or testing and modification of data cable data, including restoration of its normal function.

In addition to the programmers themselves, you will also find all the necessary accessories in our e-shop. This includes, for example, test cables used to connect the programmer to the display, an external power supply Mechanic iBoot Box Power Supply for connecting the device even without a connected flashlight or other practical tools used to repair and diagnose the device.

And how to actually perform this operation? For the purposes of this article, we will show you the procedure with the JC-V1 programmer. The procedure is more or less the same for other programmers and it is really simple.

  • Open the JC Repair program on your computer and click on "Chip repair".
  • Connect your iPhone to your computer with an 8-pin cable.
  • Click the blue "Fix True Tone" button. The data should be detected automatically.
  • Connect the JC-V1 to the computer.
  • Connect your new screen to the JC-V1. "Online" appears on the JC-V1 screen.
  • In the JC Repair program, click on "Fix True Tone".
  • After clicking, the program will ask you if you want to continue, click "Yes".
  • True Tone data is now installed on your new display.

As we have already mentioned, some programmers do not require any external application to work and therefore work completely independently. However, the procedure is almost always the same - download data from the original display, connect a new display, upload data to a new display.

After completing the last step, you can continue to install a new screen on your device, but with the True Tone feature working. If you encounter any problems while working with the programmer, do not hesitate to contact us. We have many years of experience in repairing equipment and we use each offered product ourselves and we are constantly gathering knowledge and experience about its function.
