Apple Touch ID is a system that ensures that your fingerprint is read and the device is unlocked. However, it is also used to unlock many applications, online shopping and the like. Thus, its malfunction can impair the usability of the entire phone or tablet. What simple tricks can solve this problem?
If the Apple Touch ID doesn't work, the problem may not be the fault in the sensor itself. The causes are often minor and you can eliminate them at home in a few minutes.
The following solutions in particular are worth to try:
Before you try any of the tips below, make sure your iPhone is running the latest operating system. In the settings, open the "General" tab, where you will find the option "Software updates". If your phone offers you a new update, install it.
Sometimes, simply updating the device will solve the whole problem with a broken Touch ID.
A common cause of a Touch ID suddenly stopping is a dirty sensor. If he is greasy or has moisture, he usually cannot read the fingerprint correctly. Use a soft cloth to clean it thoroughly and see if it works properly. Make sure your fingers are clean and dry.
Scanning technique is sometimes a problem. If you press too hard on the sensor, or vice versa, you apply very little pressure, the Touch ID cannot read the fingerprint correctly and does not work.
Apple Touch ID often doesn't work due to the wrong packaging of the device. This may prevent you from placing your finger on the sensor correctly. However, it can also cause local overheating of the sensor, as a result of which the Touch ID does not work properly.
If none of the above work, try restarting the device. However, deactivate Touch ID in the settings beforehand. After turning your phone or tablet back on, reactivate it and see if it reads your fingerprints correctly.
If the reset does not help and the Touch ID problem still persists, delete the existing fingerprint and try activating the Touch ID completely again.
If your phone or tablet gives you an error while trying to activate Touch ID, try one or more of the following:
For some users, the Touch ID started working again after they reset the network settings. Click on "General" in the settings and open the "Reset" option at the bottom of the menu. There, select "Reset network settings".
When none of the above tricks work and the Apple iPhone fingerprint still refuses to cooperate, you have only two options left:
