Do you think that the battery life on your Xiaomi smartphone has somehow dropped recently? The reason is usually natural degradation. In the following lines, we will advise you on what to check and how to proceed so that your Xiaomi battery will last you for as long as possible.
In the chemical composition of lithium-ion batteries, slow degradation occurs over time. It's a common occurrence for a single charge phone to last shorter. However, aging the battery is always individual and depends on how you use your smartphone.
If you are bothered by a weak Xiaomi battery, you should first check the condition. Well, no worries, you don't have to disassemble or carry your phone to a service center. Newer Xiaomi models have built-in so-called MIUI Battery Health Indicator. That is, software that automatically evaluates the condition of the battery and gives you accurate information about the level of degradation.
The built-in battery status indicator was the first to be equipped with the Redmi Note 10. Xiaomi is currently testing this feature on the Mi 11 and Redmi K40 models. How do you find out if your smartphone is equipped with it? Simply - open the settings, click on "Energy saving and battery" and open the "Battery" option.
On the indicator page, you will see the evaluation of battery health, which the system calculates based on many input parameters - degradation rate, current capacity or temperature. This will give you clear information about whether the Xiaomi battery is still usable or whether it will be better to replace it with a new one.
The indicator also includes an automatic notification that will be displayed if the battery health drops below a critical value. In this case, you know that the battery will need to be replaced.
If you have an older Xiaomi smartphone model, or you do not know how to find the battery level indicator in the settings, you can use this universal procedure. Open the phone app as if you were calling someone. Enter the following code in the box where the phone number is entered: *#*#6485 #*#*.
You will see a page with different codes and values. Note in particular the following:
The values next to the codes MF_05 and MF_06 are therefore the most telling. Based on them, you can see exactly how much the degradation of the battery is. To get a clearer picture, we recommend that you do the following calculation - divide MF_05 by MF_06 and multiply the result by 100. You will get the percentage of how good the battery is compared to your new smartphone. If you get less than 80%, it is recommended to replace the battery with a new one.
Not only lower capacity but also a large load on the smartphone's processor can cause fast discharging. To extend battery life on a single charge, turn off your internet connection or location services when you're not using them.
If you are wondering what the Android battery consumes the most, its the apps. And not only when you use them, but also when they run in the background. Always delete apps you are not currently using from open tabs.
A practical tip - in order for the battery on your smartphone to have the longest possible life, its charge level should constantly fluctuate between 40 - 80%. So, don't charge it fully and don't let it discharge below 40%.
