Guide for installing the Original flex cable with protective board (BMS) on a new battery

Restoring health battery and removing the unrecognized part message on iPhone

Currently, we have verified functionality from iPhone XS to iPhone 14 Pro.

The battery from which the cable with the protective board (BMS) is taken must be original, meaning it was installed in the iPhone by the manufacturer.

This modification of the FPC flex cable will, after correct installation, restore the lost health of your iPhone's battery and also remove the message about an unrecognized part.

The guide is written for the iPhone 11

Step 1
Turn off the iPhone

Step 2
Disassemble the iPhone and Remove the Battery

Using our repair guides, disassemble the iPhone and remove the battery so that you can handle it freely.

Step 3
Identify the Flex Cable Connection

After disassembling the iPhone and removing the battery, identify where the flex cable connection is located on the battery, which connects the battery to the device's motherboard.

Step 4
Remove the Protective Film

After identifying the location of this connection, carefully remove the protective film to reveal the protective board where the battery contacts are located.

Step 5
Cut the Battery Contacts

Next, cut the contacts in the middle of the connecting pads to avoid damaging the protective board or the flex cable (prefer using ceramic scissors to avoid unnecessary complications). If you are using regular scissors, cut the contacts individually.

Step 6
Break the Protective Contacts

On the cable you cut, bend the remaining protective contacts until they break at the narrowest part.

Step 7
Remove Small Black Squares

Using your nails, remove small black squares from both ends of the protective board.

Step 8
Straighten the Flex Cable

Very carefully straighten the flex cable to align it with the protective board so that when placed on a table, they touch as much surface area as possible.

Step 9
Attach the Adhesive Strip

Peel off the white protective film from the yellow adhesive strip and stick it to the center of the protective board on the side where there are no remnants of the connecting tabs.

Step 10
Connect the Modified Cable

On the new battery you purchased, locate the connection port and carefully attach the connector of the cable you modified.

Step 11
Secure the Cable with Adhesive Tape

Bend the cable and use adhesive tape to attach it around the perimeter of the new battery.

Step 12
Cover the Connection Port

Use the small black T-shaped adhesive tape that was included in the package to cover the connection port to ensure the flex cable does not detach.

Step 13
Attach the Cable to the Battery

In this step, we will use large black stickers to attach the remaining part of the cable to the perimeter of the battery.

Step 14
Install the New Battery and Test

Return the new upgraded battery to the iPhone and test the functionality of the device and the newly revitalized battery before sealing the display back in place.

Step 15
Warnings

  • If the iPhone does not turn on after holding the power button, connect the charger, and it will turn on automatically.
  • If the battery indicator shows 100% charge, you have installed the battery correctly.
  • When you turn on the device for the first time after replacing the battery, it will not display its health status.
  • If any issues arise, various solutions to the most common problems are provided at the bottom of the guide.

Step 16
Restore the iPhone to its Original Condition

Using our guides, restore the iPhone with the upgraded battery to its original condition.

Step 17
Verify Battery Functionality

  • On the second startup, your iPhone will show a lower battery percentage.
  • After the second startup, the battery health will be 100% and the message about the unrecognized replaced part will disappear.
  • If you have correctly attached the original battery's protective board to the new battery using this guide, the iPhone will function without any issues.

Step 18
In rare cases, the following issues may occur

Weak contact between the original protective board and the new battery
This problem is indicated by the phone showing 1% battery on the first startup.
Solution: Check if the connection between the protective board and the new battery is secure.

iPhone shows the health of the old battery
If your device shows the health of the old battery, it means the modification was unsuccessful.
Solution: Repeat the entire process with a different battery.
