How to Choose the Right Battery for iPad

Batteries for individual iPad models may differ in size, shape, capacity, connector, and flex cable position. Before ordering, check all the information provided for the specific product.

1. Check the Exact iPad Model
When choosing a battery, knowing only the product range, such as iPad Air, iPad mini, or iPad Pro, is not enough. Different generations may use different batteries.

You can find the model number beginning with the letter A, for example Axxxx:on the back of the iPad under Settings > General > About.

Then compare the model number with the list of compatible devices provided for the battery.

2. Choose the Required Quality
We offer iPad batteries in Genuine Apple, Aftermarket PRO, and Aftermarket quality. The availability of a specific quality depends on the device model.

You can find the differences between the individual quality levels in the comparison table below.

3. Check the Battery Capacity and Marking
Battery capacity is stated in milliampere-hours, mAh, or watt-hours, Wh. Do not choose a battery based only on its capacity, as it must also have the correct dimensions, connector, and construction.

A higher declared capacity alone does not guarantee better quality or longer battery life. Compatibility with the specific iPad model is the deciding factor.

4. Check the Package Contents
Before ordering, check the package contents stated on the product page. Some packages may contain only the battery, while others may also include adhesive or additional accessories.

When Does an iPad Battery Need to Be Replaced?
Consider replacing the battery if:

  • the iPad discharges significantly faster than before,
  • the battery life is no longer sufficient for normal use,
  • the device switches off unexpectedly,
  • the iPad does not charge correctly or charging is interrupted,
  • the device works only when connected to a charger,
  • the battery is swollen or physically damaged.

Similar symptoms are not always caused by the battery alone. The problem may also be related to the charging connector, charger, or another device component. If you are unsure about the cause, we recommend professional diagnostics.

Swollen Battery in an iPad
A swollen battery may put pressure on the display and other internal components of the iPad. It may appear as a raised display, a gap between the display and the frame, or deformation of the device.

Do not continue using or charging such an iPad. Do not press or puncture the battery, and do not attempt to remove it without the necessary experience. Take the device to a professional repair shop.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ
How do I find out which battery my iPad needs?

Check the model number beginning with the letter A and compare it with the compatibility information provided for the product. Do not rely only on the product range name or the screen size of the device.

Can one battery be compatible with multiple iPads?
Yes. Some iPad models may use the same battery. The list of compatible models provided for the specific product is the deciding factor.

Is a higher battery capacity always better?
No. The battery must primarily have the correct dimensions, connector, voltage, and construction for the specific iPad model. A higher mAh value alone does not guarantee better quality or longer battery life.

What is the difference between a Genuine Apple and an Aftermarket battery?
Genuine Apple is a new original Apple part. Aftermarket PRO and Aftermarket are new non-original batteries manufactured by a third party. They differ in quality level, workmanship, and price.

Can I replace an iPad battery myself?
Yes, but the replacement requires suitable tools, experience, and careful removal of the display. An incorrect procedure may damage the display, connectors, or battery.

What should I do if the display is separating from the iPad frame?
This may indicate a swollen battery. Do not continue using or charging the device, and take it to a professional repair shop.
