Apple batteries are able to maintain 80% capacity during 500 charge cycles, which for most users take approximately 18-24 months.  Battery wear means charging more often, but it can also slow down your iPhone, so use this guide to restore full performance to your device.

This manual also includes instructions for completely disconnecting the display, removing the bottom speaker, and the taptic engine, for better access to the battery sealing strips.

After completing the repair, calibrate your new battery for optimal performance.  Charge the battery to 100% and let it charge for at least another 2 hours.  Then use iPhone until it's fully discharged, then charge to 100% without interruption.

Step 1Removing the pentalobe screws

Before starting, it is necessary to discharge the iPhone below 25% because a charged Li-ion battery can ignite or explode if accidentally cut.

  • Turn off iPhone
  • Unscrew the two 6.75mm long pentalob screws on the bottom edge of the iPhone using a Pentalobe screwdriver (Ph0001.2)

Opening iPhone will break its waterproof seal, so have a replacement seal ready before beginning this step.  Without a new seal, your iPhone will not be waterproof.

Step 2Opening 1

Warming the bottom edge of iPhone helps soften the screen protector and make it easier to open.

  • Using a hair dryer or heat gun, heat the bottom edge of iPhone for about 3 minutes to bring the temperature to about 80 ° C.
  • Do not put iPhone in the microwave !!!

Step 3Opening 2

  • Place the suction cups near the bottom edge of iPhone, one at the front and the other at the back, and gently push it into place.
  • Hold your iPhone securely and use gentle suction cups to separate the screen from the back of the phone.
  • After separating the display approx. 3 mm from the back, insert the Fixservis card into the gap.

The glue that holds the display in place is very strong, so creating this initial gap requires considerable force.  If you have difficulty, reheat the bottom edge and gently slide the screen up and down repeatedly to weaken the glue until you create a gap to insert the Fixservis card.

Step 4Opening 3

  • After successfully releasing the adhesive from the edges, remove the suction cups.
  • Open iPhone by turning the display to the left like a book.
  • We recommend that you support the display so that you do not tear off the flat cable that holds the display from the system board.

For now, don't try to completely detach the display, as a few fragile flat cables still connect it to the iPhone's motherboard.

Step 5Removing the battery connector and display cover

  • Remove the two 1.1 mm long screws using a Pentalobe screwdriver (Y) securing the connector cover and remove at the same time.

Throughout the repair, follow each screw to make sure it returns exactly where it came from to avoid damaging your iPhone.

Step 6Disconnect the battery

  • Use the tip of the Spudger to disconnect the battery connector on the system board from the system board.
  • Bend the connector slightly away from the system board to prevent accidental contact with the outlet and power to the phone during repair.

Step 7Disconnect the OLED display + digitizer

  • Disconnect the OLED panel and digitizer cable connector using the Spudger.

Step 8Remove the front sensor connector cover

  • Using a Pentalobe screwdriver, remove the four screws that secure the front sensor connector cover:

- Three screws 1.1 mm long

- One 1.4 mm long screw

  • Then remove the cover.

Throughout the repair, follow each screw to make sure it returns exactly where it came from to avoid damaging your iPhone.

Step 9Disconnect the front sensor connector

  • Disconnect the front sensor assembly cable connector using the Spudger or nail.

Step 10Remove the display assembly

  • Remove the display assembly.

Step 11Peel off the old glue around the edges of the iPhone

  • Remove the old glue along the edges of the iPhone.

Step 12Peeling off the adhesive handles

  • Four pieces of stretch glue hold the battery in place - two at the top edge and two at the bottom edge.
  • Each piece of glue has black gluten at one end, which is easily glued and folded to the top of the battery.
  • Using blunt tweezers, grasp the tabs at the same time and slowly pull the adhesive away from the battery.
  • Repeat this process from all sides.

Step 13Battery removal

  • Remove the battery.
  • When removing the battery, clean the inside of the iPhone with an IPA Plus Cleanser designed to clean electronic contacts.

Step 14Stick new adhesive tape on the new battery

  • Peel off the blue plastic sheet from the new set of adhesive tapes and discard.
  • Carefully place the adhesive tapes on the battery and stick them in place as shown.
  • Use your fingers or a cloth to firmly press the strips into place on the battery.
  • Press the center to attach the black control label to the battery as well.

Step 15Insert a new battery into iPhone

  • Carefully insert the battery into the iPhone.
  • Make sure the battery connector is in line with the system board.

Step 16Glue a new adhesive around the edges of the iPhone

  • Glue a new gluten to the edges of the iPhone.
  • Reconnect the battery.

The new adhesive will ensure the iPhone's resistance to water and dust.

Step 17Replacing the iPhone

To reinstall, follow these instructions in reverse order.
